Roark Aerospace Unveils OTC Drone Detection Systems
Roark Aerospace, a specialist in counter-drone technology operating in both the United States and the United Kingdom, has made significant strides by launching its advanced drone detection systems for over-the-counter purchase. In addition, the company is broadening its aerial mapping services across multiple cities.
Advanced Detection Systems Now Available OTC
The new offerings from Roark include two cutting-edge drone detection systems. The standard Aero-Ark system boasts extensive detection capabilities, including ADS-B monitoring, compliance with Remote ID regulations, the collection and decryption of DJI packets, and passive radar functionality. For urban settings where traditional radar technologies struggle, Roark has created a specialized version that employs programmable meta surfaces (PMS) along with conical horn transceiver units.
These systems are priced starting at £4,500 ($5,715) before taxes and can be configured as individual units or collaborative pairs in either portable or sentry formats. Each system integrates on-device AI processing alongside classification driven by Roark’s advanced language models.
Real-Time Mapping Network
In parallel with its detection systems, Roark Aerospace is scaling its Wide Area Motion Imagery (WAMI) and Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) services, now covering 30 cities in the United States and 12 in the UK. This deployment leverages specially designed drones and camera technology to enhance the data available via the company’s Plexus platform.
Pilot Engagement Program
To foster the growth of its mapping network, Roark is introducing lucrative incentives for both hobbyist and commercial drone pilots, which include:
- Financial support for Remote Pilot Aircraft System (RPAS) training, including Part 107 certification
- Free WAMI/HSI cameras that can be attached to third-party drones
- Access to the Plexus data platform
Integrated Platform Access
All detection systems will provide users with access to the Plexus data platform, integrating both aerial and ground surveillance in real-time. This comprehensive platform merges drone detection functionalities with Roark’s expanding WAMI and HSI network to deliver enhanced monitoring capabilities.
The introduction of over-the-counter detection technology, along with an expanded urban mapping initiative, signifies a landmark advancement in drone surveillance solutions. Moreover, Roark’s efforts to engage civilian drone operators in the mapping network highlight a progressive and collaborative approach to enhancing aerial monitoring capabilities.
