American Robotics Obtains BVLOS Waiver for Drone Flights Managed by Remote Operations Center

American Robotics Secures BVLOS Waiver for Remote Operations Center-Based Drone Flights

February 10, 2025 – In a significant advancement for drone technology, American Robotics, a subsidiary of Ondas Autonomous Systems, has achieved a new FAA waiver, allowing Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations for its remote operations center-based flights over populated areas and moving traffic.

American Robotics’ Optimus System

Eric Brock, Chairman and CEO of Ondas Holdings, emphasized that, “Securing this FAA BVLOS waiver showcases the robustness of our technology and the trust we are cultivating with regulatory bodies. This milestone enhances the operational functionality of our Optimus System, allowing us to provide more effective solutions for defense, government, and commercial sectors, including Drone as First Responder (DFR) and critical asset inspection.”

Timothy “T3” Tenne, CEO of American Robotics, remarked, “This waiver isn’t merely a regulatory win; it represents our dedication to scaling advancements in the drone industry. As we progress with our global Operations Control Center (OCC), we are not only boosting our operational capabilities worldwide but also gearing up for the FAA’s upcoming Part 108 framework. This will enable one Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) to oversee multiple UAS, facilitating greater scalability across the field.”

The newly granted BVLOS waiver permits the American Robotics’ Optimus System to perform genuine BVLOS operations. The safety and efficiency highlighted by Kestrel, American Robotics’ sophisticated airspace management and Counter-UAS (C-UAS) solution, underpins these permissions. Together with the Optimus System, which is a FAA Type Certified UAV designed for security and inspection, Kestrel plays a crucial role in the operational offerings available to customers.

The OCC will enable American Robotics to effectively monitor and control its systems globally, enhancing service delivery to customers while ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory standards. By integrating these capabilities, American Robotics is well-equipped to address various needs across multiple sectors, spanning defense, public safety, and critical infrastructure inspection.
