FlyFreely Expands to North America with LAANC Certification
The drone management platform FlyFreely has announced its accreditation as a Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) provider by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This significant milestone allows FlyFreely to provide airspace authorizations that facilitate the integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) within specific controlled airspace.
Co-founder and CEO Dr. David Cole expressed that this expansion is a major achievement. “We’ve seen rapid growth since our inception in 2019 and have cemented our reputation as the most reliable drone management solution in Australia. After successfully entering the New Zealand market in 2022, the logical next step was the United States, and we’re thrilled about this opportunity,” he stated.
With this US entry, FlyFreely can enhance its client services, particularly for multinational organizations that need efficient drone operations across borders. Dr. Cole added, “This integration is transformative for clients with operations spanning Australia, New Zealand, and the US, allowing seamless management from a single platform.” The FlyFreely system will also support operations in Canada and Mexico, enriching the services accessible to North American clientele.
“If you manage drone services across multiple North American countries, FlyFreely is uniquely equipped to tackle the complexities of your operations through our advanced multi-jurisdictional management features,” Dr. Cole emphasized. Importantly, the platform is designed to aid US drone operators, especially those navigating the challenges of Part 107 Waivers, requiring a particularly high level of compliance and record-keeping.
The FlyFreely platform encompasses various compliance tools that assist Remote Pilots to ensure they meet waiver conditions without complicating standard Part 107 operations. Dr. Cole highlighted, “Our unique authority and workflow system enables simultaneous management of multiple waivers, streamlining the operational process.” Furthermore, FlyFreely offers capabilities for organizations to share waivers, providing flexibility for short-term needs while awaiting approval or seeking operational experience.
Having deep roots in drone operations, FlyFreely has crafted its platform to support commercial UAS management, compliance, and fleet operations. The platform includes a mobile app that functions offline for mission planning and execution, and it offers support for automatic retrieval of flight logs via Smart Controllers. It also supports cloud-based flight log synchronization for popular drones from DJI, Skydio, and DroneDeploy.
