Terra Drone Agri Partners with Malaysian Training Center to Enhance Drone Pilot Job Opportunities
On March 25, 2025, Terra Drone Corporation revealed that its Malaysian subsidiary, Terra Drone Agri, has formed a strategic partnership with Kumpulan Inovasi dan Sumber Manusia untuk Pendidikan (KISMEC). KISMEC is renowned for its focus on vocational training and workforce development in Malaysia.
This collaboration is designed to expand job opportunities for certified drone pilots within the agricultural sector. By engaging with KISMEC, Terra Drone Agri will tap into a network of trained operators who possess the Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency-Basic (RCoC-B).
The agreement benefits both organizations: Terra Drone Agri gains access to a qualified pool of talent, while KISMEC lowers the expenses associated with in-house training by directly connecting graduates to employment opportunities.
Addressing Malaysia’s Workforce Challenges
In recent decades, Malaysia has transitioned from a manufacturing-based economy to one characterized by high-tech and service industries. This change, however, has brought about challenges, including rising youth unemployment and a deficit of skilled professionals.
To combat these issues, the Malaysian government initiated the 9th Malaysia Plan in 2006, focusing on skill development and human capital enhancement. KISMEC was established as part of this initiative and has successfully trained over 18,000 skilled workers.
Through its drone pilot program, KISMEC equips students with hands-on, industry-relevant skills. Terra Drone Agri can now seamlessly connect with these graduates who are prepared to fill roles as certified drone operators.
Streamlining Hiring and Training
The MOU was formalized in Kedah, Malaysia, signifying a commitment to enhancing job placement within the agricultural drone pilot sector.
“With this partnership, Terra Drone Agri will directly access candidates who have successfully completed KISMEC’s drone pilot certification program and hold the Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency-Basic (RCoC-B),” stated the company.
This arrangement enables Terra Drone Agri to secure skilled personnel more efficiently, aiding in the development of the drone pilot workforce in Malaysia through fortified ties between industry and training institutions.
Looking Ahead: Building a Strong Workforce
Both Terra Drone Agri and KISMEC anticipate that this partnership will serve as a model for other sectors. KISMEC will persist in training and mentoring students, providing them with real-world experiences. In return, Terra Drone Agri will benefit from a loyal supply of certified drone pilots ready for employment.
KISMEC is set to play a pivotal role in equipping trainees with essential job skills, integrating industry knowledge and practical experience into their training programs. Furthermore, this MOU aligns with Malaysia’s broader aspiration to cultivate a flexible and sustainable high-tech workforce.
“Terra Drone is committed to contributing to Malaysia’s economic advancement by prioritizing the recruitment of highly skilled drone operators and nurturing a resilient and adaptable workforce,” the statement concluded.
