TDK Unveils 1.5-to-10-Watt Isolated DC-DC Converters for Use in Extreme Environments

TDK Unveils New 1.5 to 10-Watt Isolated DC-DC Converters for Harsh Environments

April 4, 2025 – TDK-Lambda Americas Inc., based in San Diego, has launched two new options within the CCG series of 1.5 to 10-Watt isolated DC-DC converters, designed to withstand challenging conditions.

This series features an extensive range of voltage and current combinations, offering outputs of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, dual +/-12V, and dual +/-15V. Users will appreciate the flexibility of the dual output models, which can be configured to provide single outputs of 24V and 30V.

Introduction of TDK's CCG series of DC-DC converters

Enhanced Protection Features

All models in the CCG series come standard with overcurrent protection and a remote on/off feature, allowing for energy-efficient operation. The converters can be placed in stand-by mode, reducing power consumption to below 0.1 Watts when not in use, which is particularly beneficial for portable applications.

Wide Input Voltage Range

These devices support a variety of DC input voltages, including 4.5 to 18 volts, 9 to 36 volts, or 18 to 76 volts, compatible with multiple power sources like 5V, 12V, 24V, and 48V.

Compact Size and Easy Configuration

The dimensions of the 1.5 and 3-Watt converters are 15.7 by 10.4 millimeters, while the 6-Watt and 10-Watt versions measure 19 by 12.4 millimeters. The unit casing is made of plastic and is designed without encapsulation, mitigating potential quality issues commonly associated with silicone potting during soldering.

Temperature Resilience

The CCG series converters can function in temperatures ranging from -40 to 100 degrees Celsius, using either convection or forced-air cooling. Input to output isolation is rated at 1,500 volts DC, with all models certified to IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards.
