RAF’s StormShroud Drone: A Breakthrough in Radar-Jamming Technology
The Royal Air Force (RAF) has unveiled its latest innovation, the StormShroud drone, designed to enhance military operations with advanced radar-jamming capabilities. This new platform, equipped with the BriteStorm jammer, aims to outsmart enemy defenses by emitting deceptive signals, ultimately improving the safety of crewed aircraft and increasing mission success rates. Weighing up to 55 pounds, the drone boasts an impressive range of 62 miles, a flight duration of 16 hours, and can reach speeds of 56 mph. Acting as ‘wingmen’ to fighter jets, StormShroud drones disrupt enemy Integrated Air Defence Systems (IADS), significantly improving pilot safety and mission outcomes. These drones will be stationed with the 216 Squadron and operated by a combination of Regular RAF, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, and specially trained UK Defense personnel, all skilled in handling high-threat environments.
