Evolve Dynamics Introduces Foxe and Wolfe: Innovative Mini Drones for Defense

Evolve Dynamics Unveils Foxe and Wolfe: New Miniature Drones for Defense Operations

As Europe commemorated the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, British drone manufacturer Evolve Dynamics has launched two new military drones: Foxe and Wolfe. This announcement coincided with a significant event in Hampshire, UK, honoring veterans from the Royal British Legion.

Both drones were developed with valuable insights from battlefield experiences, particularly operational learnings acquired from recent deployments in Ukraine. They are tailored to fulfill the practical requirements of modern military personnel, featuring enhanced durability, quick deployment capabilities, and advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) functions.

Tom Redman, CEO of Evolve Dynamics, remarked, “The introduction of Foxe and Wolfe is a landmark achievement in our mission. Originating from a profound understanding of defense sector necessities and leveraging our battle-tested expertise, these UAS platforms epitomize our dedication to British craftsmanship, robust design, and exceptional performance in the most challenging environments.”

Foxe: Lightweight ISR at the Tactical Edge

The Foxe, named after Arctic explorer Luke Foxe, is a sub-250 gram hand-launchable drone engineered for rapid operations, providing immediate ISR with minimal preparation required.

Evolve Dynamics Foxe

Key features of Foxe include:

  • Weather Resistance: Capable of operating in winds up to 15.5 m/s (35 mph) and in rain (IP54 rated).
  • Wide Temperature Range: Functional in temperatures from -20°C to +55°C.
  • Extended Endurance: Offers 35 minutes of flight time.
  • Rapid Deployment: Ready to fly in less than 90 seconds.
  • Electronic Warfare Resilience: Utilizes frequency-hopping radios for stable communication in contested areas.
  • User-Friendly Controls: Designed for easy learning and intuitive operation by non-specialist personnel.
  • Field Repairable: Components can be easily fixed on-site for continued use in rugged conditions.

The Foxe system is intended for missions where speed, agility, and durability are paramount.

Wolfe: Rugged and Persistent for Extended Missions

The Wolfe, named after General James Wolfe, is a larger sub-4 kg UAS designed for prolonged operations. With a flight duration of 60 minutes and the ability to function in sustained winds of up to 20 m/s (45 mph), it is engineered for missions requiring consistent surveillance and reliable performance.

Key features of Wolfe include:

  • All-Weather Durability: IP55 rated for protection against rain, dust, and salt.
  • Hot-Swappable Power: Facilitates ongoing missions, including multi-day operations with the optional Infinity Tether.
  • Modular Construction: Field-repairable and designed for sustained use.
  • Low Acoustic Signature: Optimized for stealth in covert operations.
  • Advanced Optics: Features a dual-camera 3-axis gimbal for high-definition imaging from a safe distance.
  • Portable Design: Lightweight and easily deployable within 90 seconds.

UK Manufacturing with Combat-Proven Insights

Both the Foxe and Wolfe drones have been designed and manufactured in the UK, incorporating proven technologies developed through the deployment of earlier Evolve Dynamics platforms, including those operated in Ukraine.

Redman further stated, “At Evolve Dynamics, our goal is to advance the capabilities of uncrewed systems to foster a safer world, equipping frontline personnel with the most dependable and effective tools for their protection and operational success.”

The introduction of Foxe and Wolfe signifies Evolve Dynamics’ commitment to expanding its portfolio of tactical UAS designed for real-world scenarios, enhancing the growing network of British defense technology.
