uAvionix Launches Trakr: Enhancing Low-Altitude Airspace Awareness on the FlightLine Platform

uAvionix Launches Trakr: A New Standard in Low-Altitude Airspace Awareness

On May 15, 2025, uAvionix revealed Trakr, an innovative suite of hardware and services designed to enhance its FlightLine airspace surveillance platform. This new addition facilitates the real-time monitoring of privately-owned drone operations, integrating seamlessly with ADS-B data from nearby aircraft.

By combining UAS-specific position feeds from Trakr with FlightLine’s established ADS-B surveillance, uAvionix provides a comprehensive overview of low-altitude airspace for operators involved in critical missions. These may include roles such as Drone as First Responder (DFR), infrastructure inspections, and wildfire response.

Trakr is currently available for preorder and is set to make its public debut at AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2025, taking place from May 19–22 in Houston, TX. Attendees can visit uAvionix at Booth #3033 for live demonstrations.

Addressing Low-Altitude Visibility Challenges

As the number of UAS operating at low altitudes increases, the need for heightened situational awareness becomes critical for operators and airspace managers. While FlightLine has long offered reliable ADS-B surveillance, the lack of assured, real-time drone tracking has resulted in significant blind spots, especially in beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and multi-drone scenarios. Remote ID technologies often fall short in range and suitability for complex enterprise operations.

The Trakr and FlightLine Integration

The Trakr device, a compact low-SWaP transmitter attached to each drone, broadcasts real-time GPS data over the 915 MHz ISM band. This signal is captured by either a permanently installed TrakrStation or a portable TrakrStationLTE. The information is then relayed to the cloud-based FlightLine portal, providing operators with an integrated view of their drone operations alongside ADS-B data.

This streamlined interface allows drone operators to differentiate their own drones from other aircraft, nearby UAS, and potential obstacles, thanks to the uAvionix FlightLine user interface (UI) or through an API that connects with third-party airspace management tools.

The data fed into FlightLine from Trakr is exclusive to the customer’s account, enhancing data privacy and operational security—vital factors in high-stakes environments. Unlike public surveillance networks or Remote ID broadcasts, Trakr ensures control, accountability, due-diligence reporting, and a clear path to regulatory compliance.

Key Features of Trakr Integrated with FlightLine

  • Comprehensive Situational Awareness: ADS-B aircraft tracking and private UAS data all in one interface.
  • Exclusive Data Privacy: Trakr feeds are solely for each customer’s use, ensuring no data sharing occurs.
  • Supports BVLOS Operations: Perfect for missions requiring extended operational range and awareness.
  • Low-SWaP & UAS Agnostic: Facilitates easy integration across various drone fleets.
  • Flexible Deployment: Use TrakrStations at fixed sites or with portable TrakrStationLTE configurations.
  • Post-Operations Reporting: Enables export of flight data post-landing for due-diligence metrics.

Trusted Solutions for Critical UAS Missions

uAvionix’s Trakr and FlightLine cloud services are already gaining traction among UAS operators within public safety, energy, and defense sectors. The technology is being utilized for various missions, from linear infrastructure inspections to urban emergency response, empowering operators to carry out their tasks safely and efficiently.

“As we see more complexity in low-altitude airspace, achieving 100% situational awareness is no longer a luxury but a necessity,” stated Cyriel Kronenburg, VP UAS & Aviation Networks at uAvionix. “With Trakr, we are merging trusted ADS-B surveillance with private, customer-specific drone tracking, providing operators with the complete airspace overview they need for safer flights and regulatory compliance.”
