Curtiss-Wright Unveils High-Speed Ethernet Data Recorder for Challenging Flight Test Programs

Introducing the HSDR-2512 High-Speed Ethernet Data Recorder by Curtiss-Wright

Date: January 31, 2025

Curtiss-Wright HSDR-2512 High-Speed Data Recorder

In Ashburn, Virginia, Curtiss-Wright Corporation’s Defense Solutions Division has launched the HSDR-2512, a high-speed Ethernet data recorder designed for rigorous flight test programs.

This innovative recorder can capture as much as 180 terabytes of flight test data, enabling a continuous recording time of three hours. With the increasing demands placed on flight test engineers to manage extensive amounts of vital data sourced from high-speed data acquisition units (DAUs) and avionics buses, the HSDR-2512 stands out as a crucial tool.

The HSDR-2512 supports full line-rate data capture through its 12 inputs, each capable of 10 Gigabit Ethernet, achieving a remarkable write speed of 16.5 gigabytes per second. Importantly, the unit features liquid cooling and may be utilized either as a standalone system or as part of a larger setup.

The HSDR-2512-1 model consists of the hREC-1000-2 recorder unit paired with the hREM-1000-2 memory storage unit. Within the hREM-1000-2, there are two hRMM-1090-X removable media modules, providing a total storage capacity of 180 terabytes.

The flight test input data is transmitted through the hREC-1000-2’s optical input ports via a Curtiss-Wright Fiber Optic Switch (FOSW-2560-1), which includes 24 fiber-optic inputs and allows for the selection of up to 15 output channels directed to the hREM media unit.

For optimal installation, the hREC-1000-2 is positioned nearest to the FOSW-2560-1 data source, thereby minimizing signal loss from cables, while the hREM-1000-2 memory storage unit is sited for easy access, facilitating straightforward module removal after missions.
