Dronetag Launches Compact Remote ID Receiver in Response to Drone Safety Concerns

Dronetag has revealed its new compact Remote ID receiver named RIDER, designed to enhance airspace safety by detecting and monitoring drone activities amid increasing concerns. This pocket-sized device is particularly aimed at public safety agencies and professional drone operators, helping to fill the existing gaps in drone detection capabilities.

The RIDER weighs only 64 grams (2.25 ounces) and operates on battery power, capturing Remote ID signals from any drone, irrespective of the manufacturer. It offers real-time data on position, altitude, speed, and pilot information, which users can access via Dronetag’s mobile application or integrate with current UTM and counter-UAS systems.
Technical Specifications and Background
According to Lukáš Brchl, the CEO and founder of Dronetag, RIDER is a “Level 0” situational awareness tool, featuring connectivity through integrated LTE, Bluetooth, and USB-C options. Its detection range measures about 3 miles using standard antennas and can extend up to 6 miles with an optional high-performance antenna. Battery life varies between 6 to 10 hours depending on usage, necessitating careful mission planning for extended operations.
Initially, smartphones were expected to fulfill drone detection tasks. However, their limitations led to the demand for dedicated devices like the RIDER. It’s essential to note that the effectiveness of this receiver is contingent upon drones broadcasting Remote ID signals, which is still not a universal practice.
