Unusual Machines to Acquire Aloft Technologies for $14.5 Million
Unusual Machines has recently finalized a binding agreement to purchase Aloft Technologies, Inc., a recognized FAA-approved provider of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) services tailored for enterprise, public safety, and government clientele, for a total of $14.5 million.
This acquisition is set to reinforce both companies’ dedication to enhancing the U.S. drone industry. Aloft Technologies is known for its innovative software solutions within the drone fleet and airspace management sector, supporting over 70% of all FAA-approved Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) airspace authorizations across the United States. To date, Aloft has facilitated more than 1.6 million authorizations, with 400,000 issued just in 2024.
Taking advantage of the data amassed from millions of secure flights and airspace interactions, Aloft is set to launch Air Boss, its groundbreaking real-time UAS air traffic management software. With predictions of over 3 million drones taking to the skies by 2028, outnumbering traditional aircraft by more than tenfold, the effective coordination of aviation activities is essential for both national security and the economy.
“As we shift away from reliance on international suppliers, it is crucial to prioritize our drone data alongside our hardware. Aloft leads the market with solutions that integrate American-made software into our operations,” stated Allan Evans, CEO of Unusual Machines. “Air Boss signifies the zenith of Aloft’s extensive experience in fleet and airspace management. This innovation will facilitate seamless airspace collaboration among government bodies, businesses, and consumers, potentially averting confusion similar to past incidents in New Jersey.”
Jonathan Hegranes, CEO and Co-Founder of Aloft, added, “Our mission centers on advancing airborne operations through improved technology and data-driven insights. By joining forces with Unusual Machines, we can expedite our mission on a broader scale while maintaining our focus on cybersecurity and American-developed software solutions.”
