NUAIR Defense Launches to Enhance Military Tech Readiness
New Initiative Simplifies Military Technology Testing and Deployment
NUAIR has introduced NUAIR Defense, a specialized hub created to facilitate the verification, validation, and deployment of defense technologies. This initiative aims to eliminate delays hindering the military’s adoption of advanced capabilities across air, land, maritime, and multi-domain operations.
A Collaborative Defense Technology Approach
NUAIR Defense operates as a comprehensive ecosystem that unites technology providers, military operators, and key decision-makers, ensuring the delivery of mission-ready solutions.
Ken Stewart, President & CEO of NUAIR, stated, “We are not merely another technology provider. We assemble the right personnel, tools, and methodologies to ensure that only tested and operationally relevant capabilities enter the field.”
Darshan ‘Dash’ Divakaran, a Principal at NUAIR Defense, highlighted the pressing need for expediting technology deployment. “The defense technology landscape is evolving swiftly, necessitating faster testing and validation of dual-use technologies. NUAIR Defense is spearheading a significant shift in defense innovation by bridging gaps between military operators, decision-makers, and technology providers to unlock novel opportunities and advance defense and security initiatives,” he remarked.
Overcoming Challenges to Military Readiness
NUAIR Defense tackles three major barriers that typically impede the deployment of advanced technologies:
- Validation at the Speed of Need: The organization prioritizes real-world testing environments instead of repetitive demonstrations, ensuring solutions are proven in operational settings.
- Realistic Testing for Success: Warfighters participate in live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) environments that replicate modern combat scenarios, assessing system performance prior to deployment.
- Seamless Integration with Infrastructure: NUAIR Defense collaborates with military airspace managers and defense sites, ensuring new capabilities integrate smoothly without causing operational disruptions.
Key Focus Areas in Defense and Security
NUAIR Defense is actively engaged in several critical defense initiatives including:
- Counter-UAS & Airspace Security: By employing digital twin technology, the initiative improves the detection and mitigation of unauthorized drone activity while validating compliant operations.
- BVLOS Operations & Airspace Management: In partnership with governmental and commercial stakeholders, NUAIR Defense works to eliminate obstacles to scalable beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations for defense purposes.
- SBIR, STTR & Dual-Use Technology Deployment: The organization fosters connections between emerging tech companies and military requirements, hastening the transition from prototype development to real-world application.
A Strong Partnership with the U.S. Military
With over ten years of experience aiding the Department of Defense (DoD), allied groups, and commercial efforts, NUAIR has established a reputation for safety, precision, and adherence to regulations. The organization maintains a long-standing partnership with the 174th Attack Wing at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, which is home to the MQ-9 Reaper drone. Notably, Syracuse Hancock International Airport, headquarters for NUAIR, is the sole U.S. airport where air traffic control consistently oversees the integration of crewed and uncrewed aircraft.
Upcoming Webinar on Accelerating Defense Technology
NUAIR Defense is set to engage with military leaders, industry experts, and government bodies to enhance the vetting, testing, and deployment processes for defense solutions. An informative webinar titled “Delivering Combat-Ready Platforms at the Pace of Modern Conflict Demand” is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, at 3:00 PM EST. This event will feature discussions led by Ken Stewart, Darshan ‘Dash’ Divakaran, and AUVSI President Michael Robbins, exploring possibilities for both commercial and defense operators.
