STMicroelectronics has announced a partnership with HighTec EDV-Systeme GmbH to enhance the development of safety-critical microcontrollers and software solutions. This collaboration aims to ensure that software-defined vehicles meet rigorous safety standards with improved efficiency.

This innovative solution incorporates the Rust programming language alongside C/C++ integration, utilizing a Rust compiler that has attained ISO 26262 ASIL D qualification. STMicro’s Stellar microcontrollers, also meeting this stringent safety certification, utilize 28-nanometer technology. Rust is witnessing heightened adoption in the automotive sector due to its robust safety and reliability features.

The integration of the ASIL D qualified Rust compiler within the Stellar microcontroller framework accelerates the creation of safety-critical applications.
