Teledyne FLIR OEM Introduces Prism SKR: Establishing a New Benchmark in Precision Automatic Target Recognition

Teledyne FLIR OEM Unveils Prism SKR: A Breakthrough in Precision Automatic Target Recognition

Teledyne FLIR, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, is making waves in defense technology with the launch of Prism™ SKR. Designed for a variety of autonomously guided weapon systems, including loitering munitions and counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), this innovative software solution sets an unprecedented benchmark in precision automatic target recognition (ATR).

Prism SKR, aptly named ‘seeker’, operates at the edge on low-power embedded processors, allowing it to handle both infrared (IR) thermal and visible camera data. Its sophisticated algorithms deliver real-time insights regarding target positioning, identification, motion direction, and aim-point localization. This information enables seamless guidance for autonomous flight systems across multiple operational modalities: air-to-ground, ground-to-air, air-to-air, and ground-to-ground.

Dan Walker, Vice President of Product Management at Teledyne FLIR OEM, stated, “With compatibility for existing autonomy and navigation software through a Weapon Open System Architecture (WOSA) compliant interface, Prism SKR is a significant advancement in autonomous precision target detection, identification, and tracking technology. It allows developers to minimize risks and costs through easy integration with the Prism ecosystem and Teledyne FLIR’s IR camera modules.”

The Prism software ecosystem accelerates development and expedites market entry with its inherent compatibility. Developers initially leverage the Prism AI embedded software to utilize detection and tracking models enriched by over six million visible and thermal annotations. Custom target lists can be efficiently integrated via the Prism AIMMGen synthetic dataset and model training toolkit. Moreover, Prism Supervisor enhances mission autonomy and platform guidance, particularly in scenarios where ATR is crucial.

Offering advanced functionalities and a comprehensive application programming interface (API) along with a software development kit (SDK) for tailored performance optimization, Prism SKR emerges as the premium solution for OEMs aiming to elevate the precision and dependability of their autonomous weapon systems.
